There are a number of geophysical search techniques that can be used at crime scenes which include ground-penetrating radar, resistivity meters, magnetometers, and metal detectors.
These non-destructive techniques are especially useful in locating and mapping clandestine graves and buried forensic evidence, and can be used to identify or discount particular areas of interest.
Used in conjunction with Victim Recovery Dogs, geophysical searches can be used to target specific areas of interest.
Some of these techniques can also be used in locations where traditional search methodologies are not feasible.
